Arrivals, Emergencies, Camp Questions & Donations

  1. How will our church know that we arrived safely?
  2. If there is an emergency, how do family members contact us? What is the emergency phone number we should give to family members?
  3. Can we receive mail during the projects?
  4. Does the lodging have outlets for hair dryers or curling irons? Are there showers?
  5. Will we have safe food and water?
  6. Can we bring clothes and other things to donate?

1.) How will our church know that we arrived safely?
We ask that you delegate a leader from your group to call someone in your church upon arrival at the airport, who will then be in touch with the parents.

2.) If there is an emergency, how do family members contact us? What is the emergency phone number we should give to family members?
If you have an emergency, call the main office number of AIM at 1-800-881-2461. If it is after our regular business hours, there will be a phone number listed on our answering machine of a staff member who will be able to contact your group. The emergency number to give to the family members is the one listed above.

3.) Can we receive mail during the projects?
Sometimes churches want to send you encouraging letters during the trip. We ask that they write them before and send them with the group leader to be passed out during the week. Often times the letters will not reach your group until after you have departed for the week.

4.) Will there be outlets for hairdryers, curling irons? Are there showers?
No hair dryers or curling irons please. We really want your group to focus on Christ during this week and not on appearances. Besides this, some places where groups stay cannot accommodate hair dryers or curling irons because of the electricity. Yes, there will be some sort of shower everywhere we do projects.

5.) Will we have safe food and water?
Yes. If the local water is not appropriate to drink, our staff will purchase bottled water that is safe to drink.

6.) Can we bring clothes and other things to donate?
If you plan on leaving the clothes you wear throughout the week, please also plan on leaving a little bit of money so they can be washed and then given to someone. If you have any other clothes or materials from your home church that you wish to donate, please contact your project leader to see how much to bring.
