We need leaders!
How would you like to really do what Jesus did?
If someone were to give you the opportunity to disciple a group of
12 young people using Jesus’ methodology for a year, what would you
say? What if you could go to any of a number of countries in the
world and engage in the kind of ministry that you most enjoy?
AIM wants to give you just that opportunity! Young
people in increasing numbers are looking for someone to disciple
them, challenging them to a high standard. AIM’s vision is to raise
up a generation of radically committed disciples of Jesus Christ. We
are starting to see great fruit, but now we can’t keep up with the
young people signing up for our year-long program (the First Year
Missionary program – FYM program for short).
Specifically, this year, we have teams in New Zealand, Mexico,
England, South Africa, Kenya, and Swaziland. Next year, we are
hoping to expand in each of those countries, plus send teams to
Philadelphia, North Dakota, and the Dominican Republic. We have
three times the level of interest that we can handle at present. We
need leaders! Here is what an FYM team looks like:
- A team of 12 college-age students and 3-5 leaders
- Leaders disciple students one-on-one
- Students engage in an internship with a local partner ministry
- Leaders teach students 4-5 times a week
- Students and leaders live together in community
- Leaders receive thorough training from AIM in advance
- Leaders are supported by an AIM shepherding team while on the field
- Read more about it by viewing http://www.adventures.org/a/fym
Most of those going through the FYM program describe it as
life-changing. Students learn to hear the Lord’s voice and walk in
intimacy with Him, they learn what koinonea looks like, and they
begin to grab hold of their identity in Christ and their call as
disciple makers.
