South Africa and Latin America
There are so many different types of cultures in our world and missionaries are needed in just about all of them. But the skills and sensitivities you'll need to minister to Latin Americans are not the same as those in an African village. Adventures In Missions' First Year Missionary program can match you with the type of mission training and experience that's closest to your heart.
South Africa
Our southern Africa First Year Missions ministry will be based out of Jeffreys Bay, South Africa. Jeffreys Bay is located on the southern tip of South Africa, right on the Indian Ocean. This will be the location of our Africa Awakening from September through December. Jeffreys Bay is a mixture of rich and poor. You will see and experience the separation of blacks and whites, even though apartheid ended years ago. During your time in Jeffreys Bay, you will reach out and minister in the surrounding townships. There are unlimited opportunities to minister to those who are the poorest of poor. Your heart will break for them as you share with them the love and hope that only comes from Jesus Christ.
During the second half of the year, you will have opportunities to minister in smaller teams in and around South Africa. We will be sending teams to places like Swaziland, Botswana, and Mozambique as well as continuing the ministry in Jeffreys Bay - First Year Missionary, South Africa
Latin America
Matamoros, Mexico will be the site of our Latin America First Year Missions ministry. On the American border, Matamoros features a diversity of Mexican and even Central American cultures. This will be the location of The Awakening from September through December. Matamoros is plagued by the problems of any big city. There is ministry in the city and ministry in the colonias. Many have come to the border town hoping to find work in the US. Ministry opportunities abound as we reach out to the "least of these." - First Year Missionary, Latin America
