“This is exactly what I have been telling high school students since the early 90's. I can't tell you how many angry parents I have had telling me to "stop dispensing such nonsensical, pie-in-the-sky advice that wasn't grounded in reality." Those were the actual words spoken to me by an upset mother when her daughter informed her that she'd like to take her first year off from college and spend it on the mission field. She went on to college and suffered through it with low grades and a weak faith.
You're dead on the money with AIM's First Year Missionary program. As a pastor and a parent I'd support this endeavor wholeheartedly!!
