2 of our youth group girls and I saw 2 homeless men under a tree. Travis was in a wheelchair and Billy was standing against the tree visiting with Travis. We had some leftover sandwiches from lunch which we offered to them. They gratefully accepted the sandwiches. We visited for awhile, and then decided we needed to move on. I said, "Is there something you would like for us to pray with you about before we go?" Billy right away said, "Nope, it was nice to meet you." I looked at Travis and he said, "Do you have time?" I said, "Absolutely we have time!!!" Billy and the three of us girls stood in a circle with Travis in his wheelchair and we all put our arms around each other's shoulders and prayed. We prayed that God would keep them safe, fed, and well and thanked God for the privelege we had to meet them, etc..... The prayer lasted maybe 15-20 seconds - when we were done, Travis sat up straight in his chair, his face was glowing and he said, "Hey! I feel better already!!!" They were so thankful that we stopped and I encourage everyone to take a moment....just a couple of minutes to say hello to a homeless person and ask them about praying together......you will leave with a changed heart and leave them with a gift of peace from God which they will likely always remember.

The random trip to Starbucks wasn't very random, it has always been planned by God. It was really awesome to meet people you have never met and feel like you have known then your whole life. That night so many people were changed, including myself. To feel the devil's grip on my heart just release and finaly be free to think my own thoughts and think of the amazing love of Jesus. I hope everyone in the world could feel what i felt that night, and feel the love of God that i feel every second of everyday.

On Tuesday July 27th, we went to Greater Pleasentview church for supper where they fed us spaghetti (and it was delicious). After supper we went into the sanctuary and had a service that was very good! We then decided to go into town and go get some coffee at Starbucks. What turned out to be a simple coffee night turned out to be a night of tears, joy, and life changes. There was a couple guys sitting outside Starbucks singing praises to the Lord. We all thought we would just come and sing along for a little while, but we ended up staying there for about an hour and a half to two hours. The moment that really hit me was when we were sing "He loves us". I realized I am a sinner but Christ died on a cross and that I am worth every single drop of blood that he shed on the cross. My life turned 180 degrees. It was definately an unexpected moment that was completely controlled by Jesus Christ.

Day one working at Greater Pleasantview Baptist

The first job that we did for the whole first day was to help Greater Pleasantview Baptist Church with some construction. We were put on the task of painting two bathrooms and the front step. I had to strip the outside steps of the glue that was used to hold the old carpet down. Although we didn't make much progress until we started using power tools it was still a learning experience. We definitely realized that being patient and realizing that no matter how small the impact, it is still an impact. I was also able to develop a relationship with a member of the church that was going to be a senior in high school this year. We got along really well and it was just awesome because he helped us with all of the work we were doing there. He was really laid back and just a positive person. Day one was an absolutely amazing start.

We were walking around trying to find pepole to evangalize to in cenntenial park today and we found a couple of really interesting people. One guy beleived that every word was God no matter what it was and wouln't let anyone even attempt to talk to him about it he was pretty dead set on his idea. Another guy was riding around on a bike and was calling everyone a sinner and was preaching to people but his facts were all wrong and once again wouldn't let anyone talk to him about the truth. Also we bought 10 cheeseburgers from McDonalds and handed them to homeless people in the park. All in all it was a fun day!

Soooooo. I and my youth group went to a revival service in Franklin Tennessee. That church set my heart up for an amazing evening with my brothers and sisters...did I mention that I didnt even know these people I call my brothers and sisters when I got there? We went to starbucks for the shear joy of coffee and that was it...but instead we sang and worshiped the Lord Jesus Christ. Tears of joy, shame, shock, amazment and the whole works were shed. Men that I never thought I would see crying were...it was amazing! The people were amazing....my life is and will forever be changed! Thank you Lord! :D

Visiting the nursing home has definitly been a highlight of this trip so far. When we first arrived the residents and staff were so welcoming and friendly. Some of the group went to wash windows while myself and a few others went to give the residents manicures. Immediately I felt that our work was being appreciated. We sang worship songs with the residents and spent time learning about their stories. This was an amazing experience.

Today we ventured to the nursing home and we were expecting to clean windows but you know when you expect that thats kinda what happens...oh yeah God plans better than us! For shizze. So we get divided up into 3 teams: one for make up, one for nails and another for windows. The guys go do the windows (huge shocker) and so i went with them. Actually I ended up seeing all three groups interacting with the elderly. At first a lot of them were super tired so it wasn't very eventful but as we got closer to lunch time I saw our men singing to one gentlemen who found them jesus songs to sing! Our girls were definitely getting into talking to the women and just loving on them with doing their nails, playing games and many more things. Afterwards our contact Glenda was so grateful that God sent help that she treated everyone to pizza and ice-cream. Also we asked her if she wanted prayer and she declared YES! And so we prayed and she gave all 14 of us hugs and she was tearing up a little bit.

Today, i went to a southern baptist church for the first time. It certainly won't be my last. the message today was from acts and was about pauls persecution for his expelltion of a demon from a slave girl. The pastor spoke with an authority in his voice like i've never heard before, and with it, bringing out pauls passion and faithfulness to God. The pastor spoke of how after paul was imprisoned, he sang praises to God until a HUGE earthquake came and freed all the prisoners. the pastor spoke of freedom, and how this was a metaphor for how praising God will ALWAYS lead to a release and freedom from the sin of this world, and that no matter where you are, you can always go to God and pray to him, thank him, praise him. its an awesome thing and i will forever be grateful for that sermon. :)

I showed up today into a church that looked quite different. To me it looked like one of those old fashion churches you said in like the 1850's. And to be honest, I didn't think I was actually going to like it. I woke up this morning with 4 hours of sleep, with only 4 hours of sleep the night before too, so it was kind of hard to stay up at first. I come from a church with three guitars, one drumset, one piano, and one electic keyboard. I go to this church this morning with four choir members, one piano, and one small drumset. In my church at home, no one talks during the sermon or hardly at all. At this church, everyone was so interaction with each other, including us. We were welcome with many "good mornings" and "welcomes". It was such a blessing to see so many people interacting together and to listen to a pastor preach a very powerful sermon. Throughout the sermons you would hear some "Amens" and "Yes Lord"...which was another amazing this by God, to know and understand that His people care so much to speak out loud for Him. So for me, to trasition from a church like mine to this type of church was quite a shocker. But I was super thankful that God gave me the opportunity to go to this church. It was absolutely amazing! And in thee end, I ended up LOVING the church, and don't tell anybody but I may see if we can get some changes up at our church started!

Today I went to a Southern Baptist Church. As I sat in the church and listened to the thankfullness of everyone, I had tears of joy streaming from my face and I was overwhelmed. These people have been through sooo much yet they care about everyone. I have never felt so welcomed, loved, cared about...etc. I have never gotten so much out of a serman either. You could tell the pastor was being honest, true and upfront. Everything that happend...its hard to describe in words. JESUS, I feel close to you, more than I ever have before...My awakening has happend....Where do you want me next?
