Ministry Detail

Project Overview:
One of the most well-known gateway cities of the Western World, New York City has attracted immigrants from almost every nation on earth. Many of these immigrants have settled in cultural communities with very little church presence. However, there is an openness and freedom to share the Gospel with the people in New York City.

Ministry Description:
Ministry opportunities include street evangelism, tract distribution, prayer, worship, drama and dance, puppets, and children’s ministry. Share the love of Jesus Christ door-to-door, in parks, and other locations throughout New York City. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn more about Islam through career missionaries, attend services in an Arab church, and participate in hands-on evangelism. Expect to work with Muslims, Arabs, Bengalis, West Africans, Moroccans, etc.

Dress Code & What to Bring
Dress Code:
We do require all trip participants, leaders, and staff to adhere to a dress code on each of our EDGE mission projects. We do this to show respect for God, respect for ourselves, and respect for others. Please help us achieve this goal by teaching your group that our dress code isn’t because we’re extremists, but because we love God, we wish to honor His creation, and we don’t wish to cause others to stumble. You can find specific guidelines in your M101 manual or by contacting your EDGE representative.

Location Information
Location Description:
The greater New York City area is home to about 18 million people, the largest urban population in the US. About 13 million people live within the inner ring of counties that surround Manhattan. This area has long been a magnet for immigrants from all over the globe. It is common for many neighborhoods to be dominated by a single ethnic group, thus giving each one its own cultural identity. Much of the area's rich and diverse culture can be traced back to the cultures that these immigrants bring to the city.
