Ministry Detail
Ministry Description:
Culture and/or State Information
Located as its own country within the borders of South Africa, Swaziland is a country that is being ravaged by the AIDS virus. In fact, Southern Africa is presenty the worst-affected region in the world. The number of HIV infected persons is growing so rapidly that without a turn-around, the country will completely be consumed by this awful disease in a few short years. Almost every family there has been affected by this deadly disease, and the number of orphans in the country is increasing at an alarming rate. These children are often left malnourished, uneducated, and without hope. In addition to the problems caused by the AIDS epidemic, Swaziland is also a land of extreme poverty and false religion. Although Christianity is the dominant religion statistically, many who claim to follow Christ are still involved in various forms of syncretism and witchcraft.

Ministry Description:
Much of the ministry you will be involved in will be ministering to orphans at various care points. These care points are set up by a local pastor to provide food and education that these children so desperately need. You’ll also have the opportunity to share Christ’s love with them, providing hope in an otherwise difficult life.

In addition to the children, you will have a chance to engage with adults who are in the last stages of AIDS, sharing hope of eternal life with those who will otherwise never know it. You will touch those people who are considered outcasts by the society, speak truth to those who have been deceived by false religion, and give yourself away to a country in desperate need of compassion.

Recommended Prayer
- Pray a protective cover for traveling safety over the mission
- Pray for God’s comfort and peace over the children, adults, and families devastated by the AIDS virus.
- Pray that God will go before you and soften the hearts of the Swazi people who might be resistant to your message of hope.
