Ministry Detail

Project Overview:
Adjacent to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, in view of Atlanta's skyline, is an extremely impoverished inner-city neighborhood known for high crime, drug and alcohol addiction, prostitution, and homelessness. Dilapidated buildings and crack houses are "home" to many families with children who suffer extreme abuse and neglect. AIM will partner with existing ministries there to provide both spiritual encouragement and physical support. Teams may minister through children's ministry, street evangelism, cookouts and sports in local parks, construction projects, prayer walks, and visitation to rehabilitation facilities and nursing homes.

Ministry Description:
Ministry opportunities may be with: Eagle's Nest, a storefront church which feeds the homeless and provides services for Bible study, the Crestview Nursing Home, which houses 200 residents who are elderly or victims of AIDS, the “Through Faith We Can” ministry which cares for recovering prostitutes and abused women and children, and the Antioch Baptist Halfway House, a home for recovering addicts.

Dress Code & What to Bring
Dress Code:
We do require all trip participants, leaders, and staff to adhere to a dress code on each of our EDGE mission projects. We do this to show respect for God, respect for ourselves, and respect for others. Please help us achieve this goal by teaching your group that our dress code isn’t because we’re extremists, but because we love God, we wish to honor His creation, and we don’t wish to cause others to stumble. You can find specific guidelines in your M101 manual or by contacting your EDGE representative.

Travel Information
Airport & Transportation:
