Ministry Information
Through AIM’s partnership with Midwest Indian Mission, Inc., participants will have the opportunity to minister and witness to American Indians on the Chippewa and Potawatomi reservations in northeastern Wisconsin. Mission work on these reservations is similar to mission work in foreign territories in that vast differences exist between the white culture and the Native American culture. Native Americans are one of the fastest growing groups in North America. Nearly half of this population is 24 years or younger. American Indians, ages 15-24 are dying at an alarming rate of almost 3 times of that of the U.S. population. Alcohol or drug related accidents account for the majority of deaths on the reservations. Teenage suicide rate of American Indians is 60 times that of white teens. Over half of the population lives on or near a reservation. It is estimated that over 90% of American Indian population do not attend an evangelical church.
The hearts of nearly all locals are what Christians would say as rock filled. Their view of white Christians is very unpopular. It is a difficult place to gain trust and relationship among locals. But the only way we can minister is through relationships; our words and actions will be viewed with the perception that we are there to make ourselves feel good. We must address this attitude in ourselves before going.

Ministry Description
Most of your work will focus on working with youth and teens through Vacation Bible School, sleep over camps (be prepared to be with the youth and teens 24/7), week long day camps, as well as utilizing the strengths of the group (skate boarding, sports, taking kids white water rafting, canoeing, fishing etc.). There are also a few small work projects that need to be done in the churches.

Recommended Prayer
• Pray God would remove the hardness of the local’s heart towards Christians and God Himself
• Pray that the Gospel would be delivered and received in holiday services
• Pray for those in drug/alcohol treatment centers and those in prison; for the Love of God to be spoken to them that they repent and encounter God.
• Pray for a new teacher for the school.
• Pray that as food is given out at Wasmogishek Food Pantry, those receiving it would be open to those serving them.
• Pray for the staff that lives on the reservation; that they would never lack anything materially and spiritually and that the enemy’s plans to disrupt, confuse, and discourage them would fail as they press into HIM.
