Acting as a gateway to the Rocky Mountains, the city of Denver, Colorado sits exactly one mile above sea level. The "Mile-High City" is one of the nation�s most highly educated cities, and prides itself on being clean and active. If you look closely, however, you will find the same struggles and problems that affect any other urban area. Denver is struggling with issues like gentrification and homelessness is on the rise. People with low income are being displaced from their housing as the city continues it�s urban renewal programs. Possible reasons for the considerable amount of homeless are lost jobs, high housing costs and medical expenses. It�s easy to jump to conclusions about why people are living on the street but, despite stereotypes, around a quarter of all homeless hold a part-time or full-time job. Many are even on waiting lists for housing. Another significant issue facing the Denver community is the staggering number of teen runaways. Many of these young kids are living on the streets, and almost half struggle with some form of substance abuse.

Ministry Description:
God's transforming work in the margins of this urban community begins as your team accepts this challenge. You�ll have the opportunity to address the practical needs of locals struggling with poverty and local social justice issues, as well as building relationships with them.

Partnering with local churches and organizations, you could have the opportunity to give yourself away through various outreaches. Creative options for ministry in Denver include free car washes, children's ministry, homeless assistance missions, outreach through music events, clothing and food distribution, prayer walking, clean up and renovation of mission centers, and sports outreach.

Food & Lodging
Meals will be prepared on site. Lodging will be provided at a local outreach center. Air mattresses, bedding, and towels are recommended.

Recommended Prayer
- Pray that God would stir the hearts of the residents of Denver to take action against injustice in their community.
- Pray that God will provide the helpless in the Denver community with a sense of hope, despite their circumstances or the poverty that surrounds them.
- Pray that God will open up opportunities to share his truth with the lost in Denver, as well as soften their hearts so that his word is well received.
