 | "I have been having the time of my life. I absolutely love Swaziland; it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. I have never been any place where the people are so open and friendly." | -Ian Newman |
| | "This was the first time that reality truly hit me. Three out of every four people in Swaziland are infected with HIV and the little girl sitting on my lap was part of that statistic." | -Kirstie Appler |

Project Overview:
|
Surrounded by South Africa on three sides and Mozambique on the fourth, the Kingdom of Swaziland has one of the highest HIV/AIDS rates in the world. Roughly one out of two people are infected and the average life expectancy is 32 years. Due to promiscuous practices and false beliefs concerning HIV/AIDS, the rate continues to rise. As the parent generation contracts and succumbs to this disease, more and more orphans are raised by their grandparents, many who are reaching the end of their natural lives. The result, if this is not stopped, will be a nation of orphans.
As you walk the streets of Swaziland, hold the hand of the AIDS patient, play football with barefooted orphans, and share the hope of Christ, may you witness beginning of healing for a nation which so desperately needs Him.

Ministry Description:
|
Your ministry in Swaziland will be intentional and relational. Whether it is playing with children at a Care Point, loving on the Gogos (grandmothers) making their food for the day, or using basic First Aid, your ministry will be one of healing. During home visit you will make relationships, hear stories, and share Christ who those who might know His name but do not know Him. While this is a medical missions trip, Swazi needs more than just physical healing. Your team will share Christ with every Band-Aid, bowl of "pap" (a staple food), VBS, prayer, and walk to the local market. This is an opportunity to use First Aid skills to help people while simultaneously pointing them to Christ.
