Project Overview:

Ireland, perhaps more than any country in recent memory, has seen religion used as a pretext for war, bloodshed and general animosity. Tensions between Protestants and Catholics on the island resulted in widespread bloodshed, and years of hatred, enmity and division. As a result, many of today's Irish have turned their backs on religion, citing the violence committed in its name. Your mission is to partner with local churches to bring the message that those who follow Christ are peacemakers who are saved by grace, healers, unifiers, and caretakers of all in need. It is your challenge to reach an understandably jaded people with a message of Christ's love and His desire for a personal, dynamic relationship.

Ministry Description:

You will be working with like-minded pastors and young people who know the lay of the land, and will be able to help you acclimate to the Irish culture. You will have the chance to participate in prayer walks, children's ministry and personal evangelism, all in one of the great settings of the world on the ancient, mysterious Emerald Isle. Ireland will provide a rich cultural experience, as well as a challenging, rewarding spiritual journey. God desires for us to be in unity with one another, come join us as we try to bring a fresh message of peace to a country still deeply wounded from years of division.

Location Description:
Northern Ireland is a constituent part of the United Kingdom. Of Northern Ireland's 1.6 million population, approximately 41% are Catholic and look to having closer links with the south, while 54% are mainly Protestant and determined to maintain their links with the U.K. Thirty years of violence in Northern Ireland now appear to be nearing an end thanks to a peace agreement between the Irish and British governments and the political parties of Northern Ireland. Ireland is known for its green rolling hills, green shamrocks, and leprechauns in green suits, but the area your team will minister in is one that is spiritually dark. Your team will travel to Dublin, Ireland, where you will live for three months among the poor, desperate, and addicted of Dublin. Dublin is full of big, beautiful churches that are dying due to lack of growth. These empty churches represent the heart of a nation where the majority of people consider Christianity as something their grandparents once did.

Travel Insurance:
We require that all program participants have health insurance coverage for international trips. It is important to know that most regular health insurance plans do not cover you overseas. Health coverage is not a requirement for domestic trips, but still recommended.

About This Program:
Join other high-school students for a mission trip around the world. Trips vary from 1 week to 5 weeks. Whether it’s a sports camp in Romania, a prayer walk in a Guatemalan volcano, or ministry in the wild Australian Outback, it will be an adventure you will never forget.
