General Information for Adult Mission Teams
Adult Mission Teams can be made up of 10 - 35 people from one or two local churches. The more diverse the group the better. Grandparents and teens work well together and bring different skills and interests to the field. When they return home they will influence different groups within the church, thus spreading the good infection for missions throughout the body.
Projects generally consist of three facets: construction, Vacation Bible School for kids, and evangelism. AIM will assist your group in all phases of preparation for your project. For example, we will provide you with a cross-culturally appropriate curriculum for VBS and evangelism tips. Additionally, we will line up ministry opportunities for team members who have specialized skills such as medical training, musical ability, teaching/preaching skills, etc.
AIM will assign a pre-project contact person for your group who will be in touch with you periodically via telephone. You will also be free to call us with any questions or concerns which may come up. AIM handles logistics for your project, such as arrangements for room and board, local transportation, ministry details. All you have to do is arrange for your group's transportation to the project site and come prepared to have a great experience!
AIM also provides your group with an experienced Project Leader who will meet you at the airport or project site and handle logistics during the project. If your group will be working across language barriers, AIM will also be responsible for providing translators who will help you minister effectively.
AIM can schedule a project for your group at any time during the year. Plan ahead for your first project. Give yourself at least six months to recruit and prepare your church's first missions team.
AIM offers projects in locations within the U.S., in Mexico and as far away as Europe.
Head knowledge is one thing, but experiential knowledge is a powerful motivator in people's lives. Through short-term missions projects, we seek to move both lay people and church leaders from arm-chair awareness to personal involvement in missions. We act as a catalyst and bridge linking the church with a needy world. The result of this link is changed hearts and lives.
Churches which begin a short-term missions program typically increase their missions giving dramatically as a result of their members' hands-on experience. In addition, members become more missions-minded in their own home towns.
