Disaster: A Natural Response

Disaster: A Natural Response

Unexpected and devastating are two common characteristics of a natural disaster, be it a tornado, earthquake, hurricane, flood, tsunami, or mudslide. Rarely are communities fully prepared for these disastrous events, and even fewer are able to handle the immediate needs of those affected.

Adventures in Missions is called to actively serve the communities around our world who find themselves caught in a natural disaster. When hurting communities cannot help themselves, we are among the first on the ground and among the last to leave as we offer care and support to those in the most desperate of situations.

We provide critical first-response care to disaster-affected areas in the form of food, blankets, shelter, and basic health care. The healing process that takes place after these traumatic events happen is just as important as immediate needs, so we make it a point to assist in long-term support and rebuilding efforts. Adventures In Missions seeks to holistically serve survivors of these traumatic events and bring hope to those who need it the most.

Because the occurrence of a natural disaster is hardly ever predicted or expected, in the past our fundraising and assistance efforts did not begin until after the damage had already been done. Precious time is lost because of this, as we are forced to seek funding for assistance while victims are already in desperate need.

In an effort to be more proactive, we at Adventures In Missions are proud to introduce our general Disaster Response Fund, a fund that will enable us to respond immediately to disasters as they are happening. With an established fund that people can build up throughout the year, we feel confident that we will never again have to wait before we can take action on behalf of suffering brothers and sisters.

Currently, we are involved in specific disaster response efforts in Alabama, Japan, and Haiti. As we continue to make you aware of the ways you can help when these events occur, consider supporting the Disaster Response Fund throughout the year so that resources are available to act quickly as unexpected and destructive natural disasters are happening.
