The Journey Ministry Tracks

The Journey offers three tracks to enter: Ministry, Agriculture, and Art. Although everyone will participate in components of each, each track is tailored a bit differently to a person's individual gifts, passions, and interests.

Prayer Track 1: Ministry

The opportunities in the Ministry track are boundless. You will still serve in the garden or farm and be involved with artistic endeavors in some way, but the majority of your time will be spent in Ministry.

You will be assigned a mentor who is actively involved in some sort of outreach ministry, whether it be in the city dump, prison ministry, orphanages, the "red-light" district, micro-loaning business opportunities, ministry to widows, the hospital, and other places.

You will have hands-on opportunities to be Christ to those in need: physically, emotionally, spiritually. If you are a more outreach-oriented person, then this track may be where you spend most of your time on The Journey.

Planting Track 2: Agriculture

Those interested in Agriculture will still have involvement in Ministry and Art, but their focus will be on sustainable agriculture. We are building a self-sustained community here in our little village, and we are also building a surplus which we can give away and sell to subsidize some of the other ministries.

We have a small orchard that grows oranges, mandarins, grapefruit, apricots, limes, avocados, and mangoes along with a garden that grows vegetables year-round.

If you love finding God in nature and feel drawn to bless others through the handiwork of Creation, then this track is probably for you.

School Track 3: Art

Those interested in Art will still be exposed to Agriculture and Ministry, but you will spend most of your time witha mentor involved in some sort of art that glorifies God. This track includes using creative artwork to inspire others to worship or that displays a need in the body of Christ. You will have the opportunity to work with artists, singers/musicians, writers, and videographers. There will be plenty of opportunities to join in a current project or even to start your own. If you want the opportunity to worship God through your artistic gifts, then this could be your track.

What Do You Do On The Journey?

  • Your first month on The Journey will be spent getting to know your responsibilities, the leadership, the mentors, and what it is you are here for.
  • The second month we look outward at those around us, the poor, the hurting.
  • The third month is spent continuing with the first two but adding the excitement and realities of true community.
  • The fourth month adds the privilege and responsibility of leadership.Month five we begin walking and listening to Christ.
  • The sixth, seventh and eighth months will be spent putting into action what we have learned by discipling and leading over 1000 high school students as they experience missions--and maybe even Christ--for the first time!
