World Race, Gap Year and Semesters Participants, Friends and Family:
The safety and security of our participants is a top priority for us at Adventures in Missions. As we announced Saturday, we made the decision to bring home all teams from our World Race, Gap Year and Semesters programs. This decision was not made lightly, and we remain confident this was the best decision for our participants on the field and for those we serve around the world. This was covered in prayer and affirmed by the eldership of the ministry. This decision is consistent with the risk factors we have used to evaluate squad locations, including, but not limited to:
Border and local policies of their current country location and the future countries they are scheduled to transition to
Virus conditions and available healthcare
Capacity for ministry
We recognize many Racers are deeply disappointed with this decision and are grieving the premature end to their international trips. Our home office staff grieves with our Racers as well. While we are fully aware this kind of trip - and the abrupt ending - cannot be fully processed in a few short days, we are arranging for squad leadership to be at the airport when they arrive and to debrief their experience with them. It is also a time to begin to talk with our teams about a vision for their coming weeks and months. As the situation continues to unfold, we are aware, however, that all plans are subject to change based on the realities of the progression of Coronavirus.
In the meantime, our risk management and leadership teams are acutely focused on the logistical details involved in getting 20+ squads home from the field. Please do not contact us about specific plans for particular squads. We are unable to respond to those individual calls, emails, and messages right now. We are focusing all of our energy on the tasks that are of highest importance at the moment. When specific details are affirmed the participants and their designated points of contact in the US will be directly informed.
We have felt the undergirding of your prayers during this time. Thank you so much for walking with us through this journey!
