If you have a heart for kid's ministry, this route is for you!
I understand how it feels to hear that whisper inside you that there’s got to be more to your faith than what you’re experiencing. That’s why I risked it all, quit my job, sold everything I owned and took off overseas to serve God and His people. I got a taste of the ‘more’ God had for me. 10+ years and 30+ countries later, my team and I now help other young people experience adventurous and purpose-filled moments with God like I had ...one semester at a time.
Witness God moving through the ministries and people you serve. Rely on His strength to fuel your days and His voice to lead the way.
Discover how to be the church, and love each other while living and serving together in South Africa, Eswatini, and Lesotho.
Watch God move in tangible ways. You may find yourself building relationships and helping with community projects, caring for children impacted by HIV/AIDS, or serving food and playing with kids.
South Africa will be a great bridge for you between American culture and the cultures found in Africa. You'll be serving with one of our key partners (specific TBD and updated soon!) who will help you become familiar with what it's like to do ministry overseas and nudge you out of your comfort zone. This first month will build a foundation for the next two months as you contribute to the long term vision of our partners ministries.
Curious what serving in South Africa sometimes looks like? Check out these blogs!
In Eswatini you will get to put the skills you learned in South Africa to practice, while still receiving guidance from the staff at the Adventures base. You will do a lot of children's ministry and home visits, and experience firsthand how you can help contribute to the development of the next generation of Swazi leaders.
Meet Bongani and Morgan Nxumalo serving in Eswatini
Morgan moved to Swaziland a little over five years ago on June 1, 2014. She is originally from Alabama. Bongani started working with Adventures in Missions in March of 2014. He is a Swazi national. Bongani and Morgan got married in March of 2017 and had their first child, Jonathan on October 24, 2018.
Bongani and Morgan became the Team and Trip Managers in January of 2018. They handle all logistics for all teams that come into the country including World Race squads, Semester Teams, etc. They want to make sure that everyone that comes through Swaziland has their best trip and experience yet!
Lesotho is a beautiful country, but what will be the highlight of your month is the quality relationships you will build. Africa 4 Jesus will identify several locations where you can minister and serve their ministry, but it is up to you on what you will accomplish. It will be challenging, but fruitful. We hope you take what you learn and feel confident to connect and build friendships in your own community too!
Meet the amazing people from Africa 4 Jesus!
Africa 4 Jesus is a discipleship ministry that operates sustainable discipleship schools within South Africa, Africa and the rest of the world. You will spend the first few days of your trip at our campus in Georgia, training, worshiping and bonding with your teammates before you leave.
You will fly out with your team from the Atlanta airport and begin your semester on mission.
A large part of this journey is growing in your walk with Christ. We desire to model the way Jesus discipled his followers. Mentors, coaches, and fellow Racers will disciple you, while you serve, love, and disciple others.
You’ll spend the first few days of your trip at a training camp here at World Race headquarters in North Georgia.
You’ll get to experience raw Christian community as you travel, serve, and encourage each other. Once you officially join the Race, you will be invited to a private Facebook group to begin getting to know your squad.
We’ll provide coaching, video tutorials, scripts, and ideas for fundraising plus a free fundraising course and a blog so you can tell your story and accept donations. We also have structured deadlines to help you reach your goal.
Our commitment to risk management includes internal and external teams who constantly monitor and manage risk and create contingency plans as needed.
