I used to wonder “How do I live a life of purpose?” Can you relate?
The World Race was a catalytic year that changed the trajectory of my life forever. I developed a deeper relationship with God, built lasting friendships, and received firsthand experience on how to make a difference in the world. Today, my team and I have the privilege of leading hundreds of people on Semesters (one of the fastest-growing programs in our organization!) We’ll be your guides as you discover God’s plans are bigger than you ever dreamed. During your trip, our trained leadership team will share how to read the Bible and apply it as you serve and build relationships and live in an authentic Biblical community.
The Semesters Trip 4 journey empowers you to:
1. Grow with God
Dive deeper into your relationship with God and discover how to walk with Him in everyday life - whether overseas, in college, or at home.
2. Find Community
Discover how to be the church, and love each other while living and serving together in Peru.
3. Make a Difference
Adventure through the Amazon as you minister with local villages. Join efforts in Lima as you serve adults with special needs. Build relationships in Cusco as you partner with local churches to reach their communities.
LOCATION:Communities along the Amazon river near Nauta, Peru
MINISTRY:Dejando Huellas (“Leaving Footprints”) and YWAM Iquitos
FOCUS:Evangelism and Kids ministry
Start off your Semesters trip deep in the Amazon jungle. Disconnect from modern life and explore while you work alongside our ministry partner to reach the remote communities along the Amazon river. Share the Gospel with local families, pray for people in their homes, and play with local kids, all while living in a rugged bunkhouse with a boat as your only mode of transportation! Practice Spanish or speak fluently with locals as you serve, love, and share the Gospel!
Meet Julio and Yola (left), the directors of Dejando Huellas (“Leaving Footprints”) YWAM
Julio and Yola have been working with YWAM Iquitos since 2005. They are the directors of the ministry Dejando Huellas (Leaving Footprints). This ministry focuses on taking the Gospel to unreached communities and serving them through medical outreaches, church construction, and pastors and leaders training. They have three adult daughters who are married and serving God.
Meet Waldir and Mayra (right), the directors of Jucum Iquitos
Waldir and Mayra serve as the directors of Jucum Iquitos. They have a precious daughter named Mikayla.
From the jungle life to the bustling city, your next stop on your Semesters trip will be Peru’s capital, Lima. You will serve with our ministry partner Cesar Ausejo through his ministry RAMAS as they reach the city. Join them as they serve adults with special needs, support local churches, and share the Gospel with university students. You might help with an English class or preach in a local church, surrounded by the busy pace of city life.
Meet the Cesar from RAMAS Ministry!
RAMAS ministry connects the global Church through short-term missions that benefit the local church and community and relational discipleship. Cesar believes that through discipleship, Peru will experience the Kingdom of God and see His glory shine through people, and that churches all over the world will connect with their brothers and sisters in Peru.
You’ll end your Peruvian experience in Cusco, where the remnants of an ancient empire remain and are waiting to be explored. In the midst of the ruins, you’ll work with our ministry partner, Josephine House, as they serve children and adults with special needs. You may also partner with local churches and support them as they reach their community. But most of all, you will enjoy the community and friendship of the Andersons, your host family for the month, who will teach you to follow Jesus no matter where you go.
Serve in the jungles of Peru, ministering along the Amazon river. Transition into the bustling city of Lima and build relationships with university students. Finish your time being the hands and feet of Jesus in city of Cusco. This is an awesome trip for those who speak or are learning Spanish!
You’ll create a profile and complete a questionnaire application and then schedule a phone interview with our team so we can get to know you better. After that, we’ll let you know when you’ve been accepted!
Step 2: Fundraise
Once you’ve confirmed your spot, we will pair you with an Admissions Advisor who will help you with planning, fundraising ideas, and all the logistical information you need to prepare.
Step 3: Train
You will spend the first few days of your trip at our campus in Georgia, training, worshiping and bonding with your teammates before you leave.
Step 4: Launch
You will fly out with your team from the Atlanta airport and begin your semester on mission.
How We Support You
A large part of this journey is growing in your walk with Christ. We desire to model the way Jesus discipled his followers. Mentors, coaches, and fellow Racers will disciple you, while you serve, love, and disciple others.
You’ll spend the first few days of your trip at a training camp here at World Race headquarters in North Georgia.
You’ll get to experience raw Christian community as you travel, serve, and encourage each other. Once you officially join the Race, you will be invited to a private Facebook group to begin getting to know your squad.
We’ll provide coaching, video tutorials, scripts, and ideas for fundraising plus a free fundraising course and a blog so you can tell your story and accept donations. We also have structured deadlines to help you reach your goal.
Our commitment to risk management includes internal and external teams who constantly monitor and manage risk and create contingency plans as needed.
Our amazing Parent Ministry provides resources and communication so your parents feel supported and informed while you’re on the field.
