First you’ll head onto Honduras, where God is doing a mighty work even amidst a broken past of violence and drug trafficking. Through our ministry partner Hope at Hand, you will work alongside many local ministries that are serving the community of Valle de Angeles. You may spend time serving at a home for adults with special needs, or working with other local ministries that are serving local children. No matter what you do, you’ll enjoy the friendship of Scarleth and David Jones, who are passionate about seeing God transform Honduras.
FOCUS:Kids Ministry, Manual Labor, Discipleship, Teaching English
Your Semesters journey continues in Nicaragua. Though a rocky political history has left some areas of this nation impoverished, God is doing a powerful work through the local body of Jesus followers here. Surrounded by the beautiful blue waters of Lake Nicaragua, you will serve alongside one of our partners on the land mass of two active volcanoes known as Ometepe Island. Here you’ll build relationships with the local community as you serve alongside CICRIN to support the children of this isolated island community.
Walk out your faith in Costa Rica by showing this pura vida nation the true source of Life. Your final stop on your Semesters journey is just beyond the Nicaragua border in the small town of Los Chiles, Costa Rica where you will serve with Rosita and Tony Lasso in their ministry Fundacion Resplandecer. Here you’ll help out on their farm doing manual labor projects, serve with their church doing evangelism and bible studies, and reach out to the local community through kids clubs.
If you haven't already been issued a passport prior to applying for one of our international trips, take note that US passport issuing services are significantly delayed in processing applications. You are more than welcome to apply for one of our trips. However, if you do not get issued a passport by the time we purchase a flight for your trip (around December 1st), you will need to choose a domestic trip option or defer to a later trip.
Spend your semester on mission in Central America. You’ll kick off in Honduras where God is doing a mighty work, even amidst a broken past of violence and drug trafficking. Next you’ll head to Nicaragua to serve with our partners on the landmass of two active volcanoes. End your time serving in Central America growing in evangelism and discipleship while living on a farm in Costa Rica.
Witness God moving through the ministries and people you serve. Rely on His strength to fuel your days and His voice to lead the way.

WHAT IF WE HAVE TO CANCEL THIS TRIP DUE TO COVID-19?
We have an experienced risk management team. They monitor political, health, weather, and other risks in the regions where we serve. We continue to confidently plan impactful trips and adjust when necessary. We won’t launch a trip that isn’t up to our standards of safety. In 2020, we canceled our international trips due to safety and travel restrictions with COVID-19 and gave options to our participants to join us domestically or defer to a later date. We currently feel confident launching this trip. If we have to cancel this trip, or you don’t feel comfortable going, the money you’ve raised can be applied to a different or future trip within the next calendar year.
You’ll create a profile and complete a questionnaire application and then schedule a phone interview with our team so we can get to know you better. After that, we’ll let you know when you’ve been accepted!
Step 2: Fundraise
Once you’ve confirmed your spot, we will pair you with an Admissions Advisor who will help you with planning, fundraising ideas, and all the logistical information you need to prepare.
Step 3: Train
You will spend the first few days of your trip at our campus in Georgia, training, worshiping and bonding with your teammates before you leave.
Step 4: Launch
You will fly out with your team from the Atlanta airport and begin your semester on mission.
Ever wonder if there’s more to your faith than what you’re experiencing? I can relate.
I understand how it feels to hear that whisper inside you that there’s got to be more to your faith than what you’re experiencing. That’s why I risked it all, quit my job, sold everything I owned and took off overseas to serve God and His people. I got a taste of the ‘more’ God had for me. 10+ years and 30+ countries later, my team and I now help other young people experience adventurous and purpose-filled moments with God like I had ...one semester at a time.
How We Support You
A large part of this journey is growing in your walk with Christ. We desire to model the way Jesus discipled his followers. Mentors, coaches, and fellow Racers will disciple you, while you serve, love, and disciple others.
You’ll spend the first few days of your trip at a training camp here at World Race headquarters in North Georgia.
You’ll get to experience raw Christian community as you travel, serve, and encourage each other. Once you officially join the Race, you will be invited to a private Facebook group to begin getting to know your squad.
We’ll provide coaching, video tutorials, scripts, and ideas for fundraising plus a free fundraising course and a blog so you can tell your story and accept donations. We also have structured deadlines to help you reach your goal.
Our commitment to risk management includes internal and external teams who constantly monitor and manage risk and create contingency plans as needed.
Our amazing Parent Ministry provides resources and communication so your parents feel supported and informed while you’re on the field.
