FOCUS:Relational Evangelism, Community Service Projects, Missional living.
You’ll get the unique opportunity to build relationships with students from the 10/40 window who seasonally come to the Dells for work. Many students are from countries where it’s illegal to be a Christian and have not heard of Jesus. You’ll also help with a food distribution ministry that has had a dramatic rise in need for help because of COVID-19 and its effects on this community. You'll be given a paid job in the community to work alongside and build relationships with university students and tourists as you live out your faith day in and day out.
Join our community of believers who have been serving the Dells area for years. You’ll never be the same after the training, experience, and opportunity to apply what you’re learning. Learn to live out “life is missions, and missions is life” while serving in practical ways in the Wisconsin Dells.
Have online classes or having a job ever kept you from pursuing a missional lifestyle? Now you can do both!
Come live a missional life in an established Christian community, all while enrolled in classes. We’ll carve out 1/2 days M-F for you and your teammates to keep up with school work
Taking a Semester off of school? We'll help you strategically get a job where you can put into practice everything you're learning. You'll spend your 1/2 days earning some money while living out the gospel.
Why? We’re really excited about what God is doing here in America. If staying engaged in online-school or making a little money at a part-time job are preventing you from living a missional lifestyle, we have now officially removed your excuses. You don’t have to go overseas to be a missionary; we want to show you how. Come on, let’s get after it!
THE SEMESTERS EXPERIENCE TO THE DELLS EMPOWERS YOU TO:
1. Grow with God
Witness God moving through the ministries and people you serve. Rely on His strength to fuel your days and His voice to lead the way.
2. Find Community
Discover how to be the church and love each other while living, serving, and working together in Wisconsin Dells.
3. Make a Difference
You’ll learn how to live out your Christian faith here in America with our community that does it day in and day out. You’ll find yourself building authentic relationships, distributing food at a local food bank and working in the community all as a part of showing you how to do this back in your hometown.
You’ll create a profile and complete a short application. After that, we’ll let you know if you’ve been accepted!
Step 2: Fundraise
Once you’ve confirmed your spot, we will pair you with your Admissions Advisor who will help you with planning, fundraising ideas, and all the logistical information you need to prepare.
Step 3: Train
You will spend the first few days of your trip at the ministry site, training, worshiping and bonding with your teammates before you dive into the day to day of ministry. Throughout the month, you’ll get continual discipleship and training that can be immediately tested and applied to the environment around you.
Step 4: Arrive
On January 27th you’ll fly to the nearest major airport or drive directly to the ministry sight in Wisconsin to meet your teammates and our leadership team to kick off your spring semester!
WHAT IF WE HAVE TO CANCEL THIS TRIP DUE TO COVID-19?
We have an experienced risk management team. They monitor political, health, weather, and other risks in the regions where we serve. We continue to confidently plan impactful trips and adjust when necessary. We won’t launch a trip that isn’t up to our standards of safety. In 2020, we canceled our international trips due to safety and travel restrictions with COVID-19 and gave options to our participants to join us domestically or defer to a later date. We currently feel confident launching this trip. If we have to cancel this trip, or you don’t feel comfortable going, the money you’ve raised can be applied to a different or future trip within the next calendar year.
How We Support You
A large part of this journey is growing in your walk with Christ. We desire to model the way Jesus discipled his followers. Mentors, coaches, and fellow teammates will disciple you, while you serve, love, and disciple others.
You will spend the first few days of your semester at the ministry site, training, worshiping and bonding with your teammates. Throughout the month, you’ll get continual discipleship and training that can be immediately tested and applied to the environment around you. You’ll take home with you the ability to live out all that you learned in WI, but in the context of your challenges and opportunities back home.
You’ll get to experience authentic Christian community as you live together, serve, and encourage each other. Once you officially join Semesters by WR, you will be invited to a private GroupMe group to begin getting to know your squad.
We’ll provide coaching, video tutorials, scripts, and ideas for fundraising plus a free fundraising course and a blog so you can tell your story and accept donations. We also have structured deadlines to help you reach your goal.
