FOCUS:Children’s Ministry, Church Planting, Community Outreach
From the breathtaking Andes mountains and vast coastal deserts to the lush, tropical rainforests of the Amazon Jungle, Peru is one of the most biodiverse countries on Earth. The birthplace of several proud, ancient civilizations, present day Peru is home to multiple indigenous groups who blend into a unique and beautiful culture. Sadly, the people of Peru struggle with extreme poverty and class inequality. Government corruption hinders economic development, and many people face problems like teenage pregnancy, substance abuse, and crime.
Our partner, Josephine House, is a children’s home focused on helping their community through church planting and outreach among the Venezuelan refugee population. Josephine House focuses on reaching Venezuelans with the Gospel due to the influx of refugees in the community.

In the past, Medellín, Colombia has been a center of violence, drug trafficking, and gangs. In the past 30 years the city has been making a turnaround, but there is still so much need here. Many families have been affected by poverty, violence, drug addiction, and homelessness. Most recently, coronavirus has caused a huge wave of unemployment, leaving many families in poverty and hunger.
In Medellín, a vibrant city with a dark history of drug trafficking and violence, Ciudad Refugio is bringing hope and restoration to the people of this city. In 2001, Ciudad Refugio was born out of the need to offer a solution to the problems that have marked Colombia for decades: family violence, forced displacement, lack of government assistance, drug addiction, and internal armed conflict. The foundation provides immediate and effective humanitarian aid to those who do not have access to government coverage and require a ray of hope. They are also shifting to focus on serving and reaching the influx of Venezuelan refugees in Medellin. Surrounded by the beautiful Andes mountains, this ministry partner provides many opportunities to impact the community.

WHAT IF WE HAVE TO CANCEL THIS TRIP DUE TO COVID-19?
We have an experienced risk management team. They monitor political, health, weather, and other risks in the regions where we serve. We continue to confidently plan impactful trips and adjust when necessary. We won’t launch a trip that isn’t up to our standards of safety. In 2020, we canceled our international trips due to safety and travel restrictions with COVID-19 and gave options to our participants to join us domestically or defer to a later date. We currently feel confident launching this trip. If we have to cancel this trip, or you don’t feel comfortable going, the money you’ve raised can be applied to a different or future trip within the next calendar year.
You’ll create a profile and complete a questionnaire application and then schedule a phone interview with our team so we can get to know you better. After that, we’ll let you know when you’ve been accepted!
Step 2: Fundraise
Once you’ve confirmed your spot, we will pair you with an Admissions Advisor who will help you with planning, fundraising ideas, and all the logistical information you need to prepare.
Step 3: Train
You will spend the first few days of your trip at our campus in Georgia, training, worshiping and bonding with your teammates before you leave.
Step 4: Launch
You will fly out with your team from the Atlanta airport and begin your semester on mission.
Ever wonder if there’s more to your faith than what you’re experiencing? I can relate.
I understand how it feels to hear that whisper inside you that there’s got to be more to your faith than what you’re experiencing. That’s why I risked it all, quit my job, sold everything I owned and took off overseas to serve God and His people. I got a taste of the ‘more’ God had for me. 10+ years and 30+ countries later, my team and I now help other young people experience adventurous and purpose-filled moments with God like I had ...one semester at a time.
