FOCUS:Children’s Ministry, Community Outreach, Discipleship
Known for soccer, safaris, beautiful scenery and coast lines, South Africa is the southernmost country in Africa. The country is among the most diverse on the continent, with people from many ethnic groups and nationalities living in the same communities. Workers often come from other countries to support their families at home. Challenges linger following the country’s history with aparthied and the nation is still in the process of healing and reconciliation. Though one of the most prosperous countries in Africa, millions of people live in poverty.
Our partner, Impact Africa, is reaching their communities through socially relevant outlets of ministry service. Their heart and vision is built around making a sustainable, long-term impact by equipping and mobilizing South Africans to reach fellow South Africans. Efforts multiply as these missionaries serve, educate, and rescue individuals while leading them toward a passionate relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Kingdom of eSwatini (formerly known as Swaziland) is a small country neighboring South Africa & Mozambique. Ravaged by the HIV/AIDS pandemic, eSwatini has the highest HIV/AIDS rate in the world, leaving thousands of children — 12% of the population — without parents. In addition, 40% of all Swazis live on less than $1.25 per day, which is below the international poverty line. But we believe God has a redemptive plan for eSwatini. The key to a nation’s future is its children — in the care for their physical well being, the fulfillment of basic needs like food, clean water, and shelter, and in their education.
Adventures in Missions has made a long term commitment in eSwatini. With our base celebrating 20+ years of ministry, we are thankful for what the Lord has done here and excited for what the future holds. The base in eSwatini has a vision to see a generation of children raised up to take leadership of their country, spread the Gospel to the world, and create an abundant and healthy future for their nation. Come alongside our Swazi staff as they reach their communities through feeding programs, agriculture projects, and leadership programs to raise the next generation of Swazi leaders.
Lesotho is a beautiful country landlocked by South Africa. Known as the “Kingdom in the Sky,” Lesotho is one of the most mountainous countries in the world. In these mountains and valleys, you will find small agricultural communities and nomadic shepherds raising sheep. Many have heard the name of Jesus, but have yet to experience what it means to live out their faith.
Africa 4 Jesus Lesotho reaches the younger generation through job skills and ministry training. Children, young adults, and shepherds of the region are trained in art & craft skills and basic literacy, as well as mission work through sustainable discipleship schools and equipped to fulfill the Great Commission through their unique callings. Equipping these young people to support and to be of service to their communities can bring the Basotho nation closer to Christ.
Experience the beauty and culture of southern Africa while you serve with local ministries and churches as they meet the needs of their neighbors. You’ll work with Impact Africa in South Africa, serve alongside local and international missionaries at the Adventures in Missions base in eSwatini, and join Africa 4 Jesus Lesotho through feeding programs, sports ministry, and school programs. As you serve with these deeply-rooted ministry partners, you will be able to be part of what God is already doing through the African church by empowering local believers to share the Gospel with their neighbors and elsewhere in Africa.
WHAT IF WE HAVE TO CANCEL THIS TRIP DUE TO COVID-19?
We have an experienced risk management team. They monitor political, health, weather, and other risks in the regions where we serve. We continue to confidently plan impactful trips and adjust when necessary. We won’t launch a trip that isn’t up to our standards of safety. In 2020, we canceled our international trips due to safety and travel restrictions with COVID-19 and gave options to our participants to join us domestically or defer to a later date. We currently feel confident launching this trip. If we have to cancel this trip, or you don’t feel comfortable going, the money you’ve raised can be applied to a different or future trip within the next calendar year.
You’ll create a profile and complete a questionnaire application and then schedule a phone interview with our team so we can get to know you better. After that, we’ll let you know when you’ve been accepted!
Step 2: Fundraise
Once you’ve confirmed your spot, we will pair you with an Admissions Advisor who will help you with planning, fundraising ideas, and all the logistical information you need to prepare.
Step 3: Train
You will spend the first few days of your trip at our campus in Georgia, training, worshiping and bonding with your teammates before you leave.
Step 4: Launch
You will fly out with your team from the Atlanta airport and begin your semester on mission.
Ever wonder if there’s more to your faith than what you’re experiencing? I can relate.
I understand how it feels to hear that whisper inside you that there’s got to be more to your faith than what you’re experiencing. That’s why I risked it all, quit my job, sold everything I owned and took off overseas to serve God and His people. I got a taste of the ‘more’ God had for me. 10+ years and 30+ countries later, my team and I now help other young people experience adventurous and purpose-filled moments with God like I had ...one semester at a time.
How We Support You
A large part of this journey is growing in your walk with Christ. We desire to model the way Jesus discipled his followers. Mentors, coaches, and fellow Racers will disciple you, while you serve, love, and disciple others.
You’ll spend the first few days of your trip at a training camp here at World Race headquarters in North Georgia.
You’ll get to experience raw Christian community as you travel, serve, and encourage each other. Once you officially join the Race, you will be invited to a private Facebook group to begin getting to know your squad.
We’ll provide coaching, video tutorials, scripts, and ideas for fundraising plus a free fundraising course and a blog so you can tell your story and accept donations. We also have structured deadlines to help you reach your goal.
Our commitment to risk management includes internal and external teams who constantly monitor and manage risk and create contingency plans as needed.
Our amazing Parent Ministry provides resources and communication so your parents feel supported and informed while you’re on the field.
