Community Overview
Manchester, New Hampshire is a city with rich historical ties that comes to life in the fall. Manchester has a unique multicultural opportunity as it has an increasing New American population. Since 1994, New Hampshire has welcomed and established resettlement for almost 8000 refugees. This growing immigrant community has become home for many people primarily fleeing from Afghanistan, Syria, Burma, Iraq, and Somalia. When you get into the heart of southern New Hampshire, the brokenness is devastating. It is very impoverished, and you see drug abuse, crime, alcohol addiction, and other avenues that are used by people needing hope and purpose in life.
There are several ministries and churches in the area with one heart, goal, and purpose which is to see the city and its people transformed by the love of Jesus. Come play a part in the transformation of Manchester!

Activities and Opportunities
- Kids Ministry: We partner with a ministry that works with primarily inner city, at risk, urban, and impoverished kids. Many of them are refugees and New Americans. Their mission is to inspire kids with the genuine love of God to change the world around them. Teams will be able to participate in these children programs by helping facilitate activities, playing games, painting faces, having dance parties, serving meals, competing in sports, or even sharing a Bible message!
- Homeless Ministry: Many of our partners help homeless people in the city of Manchester. The homeless population is devastating in the parks and streets. Teams will be able to serve meals at local soup kitchens, pass out food, snacks, and other necessities directly to homeless people, and pray for them or even share a short Bible message with crowds.
- Recovery Ministry: Our partners who help those recovering from alcohol and substance abuse are leading people to a life of freedom from addiction and prostitution. Teams can partner with them and pray for those they encounter, assist with any projects they may have, and/or serve meals to those in need!
- Sports Ministry: Teams could have the opportunity to engage in soccer or basketball outreach for adults, youth, or kids! There could be a potential sports camp, or teams may be able to jump into a neighborhood pickup game.
- Foster Care Ministry: Teams will be able to hear from families who have fostered many kids in the area. These families are amazing and have incredible stories. There could be opportunities to support, engage with, pray for, and/or share a meal with them!
Lodging
Your team would be lodging on the local church or ministry floor. Your team will need to provide their own bedding and potentially air mattress/sleeping pad. There will be showers and a kitchen available for use.
Travel & Transportation
Your group is welcome to drive in or fly in. Manchester is home to an airport with rental options as well. Parking is available on site. Groups will be required to supply their own transportation to and from ministry each day although 15 passenger vans may be available for use. If your team doesn’t mind the additional travel you may also fly into Boston and drive to Manchester.
Meals
There is a full kitchen with anything you might need. Meals are very much a team effort, and we have a lot of fun in the process! Teams will participate in meal prep and serving. Breakfast will be cold cereal, fruit, bagels, etc. Hot breakfasts could be available as well, depending on the group’s willingness to contribute to the meal prep and cooking. Lunch will be packed sandwiches, fruit and a side to take to the ministry site. Hot dinners will typically be served after ministry at the church each day or alongside the ministry events.
Health and Safety
The safety of our participants is a top priority for us. We have both an internal Risk Management team and external Risk Management consultants. We use a multi-pronged approach to risk management – including monitoring information from reporting agencies and relying on the knowledge of our ministry partners. In addition to our own protocols (e.g., students must be with an adult at all times), our ministry hosts and partners will provide trip specific safety guidelines for the particular trip location. Our Project Leaders are trained in risk management and have access to both on-field and home-office support.
Registration and Payment
$500 Deposit: This deposit is required to reserve your trip. At this point, you will lock in your trip and we will keep in touch with you going forward about preparation. This deposit is applied to the total cost of your trip.
50% Payment: Half of your total trip cost will need to be paid 3 months before your trip.
100% Payment: The remaining balance is due 2 months before your trip.
Project Leader
An adult Project Leader will be assigned to your team throughout the duration of your trip. They will stay with you and your team, as well as engage daily with you throughout ministry and daily life activities. This leader will have strong missions experience, leadership experience and a demonstrated competence in the area of discipleship of youth and young adults. In most cases, your project leader will help with facilitating ministry, meals and daily debrief and devotional time. Your Project Leader will be assigned to your trip and you’ll have the opportunity to have conversations with them during the weeks leading up to your trip.
